Up until now, I’ve never been that inspired to travel. As a child my parents took me on weekend breaks to Belgium and Paris, as well as once a year family holidays to Slovenia or Italy. I’ve always been content just going to the same places again and again because I know what I like, and my anxiety can handle it. This year however is going to be quite different.
First stop is going to be Barcelona for 4 days in 2 weeks time, then a 3 day trip to Paris for my 18th birthday, later on in June I’ll be exploring Amsterdam for 3 days and finally another family holiday to Lake Garda, Italy. Just writing them down is making my anxiety encapsulate me !
After writing a list of what I want to pack for each holiday I’ve picked out a few essentials that are going with me on every trip. I try to only take things I need, unlike my mother who prefers to pack her whole wardrobe and dresser.
Black slip on shoes – I’m not really a sandal girl, so slip on shoes are the perfect compromise. Whether I’m dragging my hungover body to breakfast or exploring cities in the daytime, slip on shoes are the way to go. As soon as I saw these black leather pointed slip ons I was in heaven. They are very minimal but the slight heels and length to leg and foot.
Stilettos – I honestly don’t think I could go anywhere for more than two days without packing a pair of classic stilettos. They add femininity to any outfit as well as taking your day outfit to an evening outfit. I’m taking a nude to pair to break up my mostly black outfits, but knowing me I’ll also sneak in a black pair too.
Jeans – A good quality pair of jeans can flatter any body shape. I like to wear skinny jeans during the daytime with a V neck T-shirt, and then swap around my shirt for a silk camisole with heels for a sexy evening outfit. I like to take a pair of blue and black skinny jeans if it’s fairly warm. If the weathers a bit on the colder side I throw in some thick denim mom jeans.
Mini skirt – I don’t tend to wear jeans very often as I still haven’t found the perfect pair of denim shorts, so instead I prefer to take a mini skirt. This one is a faux suede/leather skirt and adds an bit of edginess to an outfit. If you have broad shoulders like me, then A line mini skirts are perfect.
Silk camisole – One of favorite pieces to wear is black silk camisole. I find they’re much cheaper and better quality when you buy them in lingerie departments rather than clothing sections. There is something about a silk camisole tucked into jeans without a bra or just a bralette which screams femininity to me.
Cross body bag – Finding a good cross body bag is vital for city breaks. This black leather bag is the perfect size to fit in my passport, phone and other essentials. The touch of gold keeps in chic for daytime and evening. Inside I always carry headphones (I have the iPhone 7 so I use normal headphones with an adaptor attached), blister plasters, nail polish, lip balm and a good hair clip.
